Growing Up Too Fast

I signed Emma up for kindergarten this afternoon. I can't believe our baby will go to kindergarten in the fall. These five years have gone by too fast, and she is growing up quicker than I would like. The school district office called me last week and asked that I bring Emma this afternoon to sign her up. Mother Goose was there. They took pictures of me signing Emma up and plan to put it in the newspaper. We'll see. Emma was so excited about signing up. She is ready and looking forward to the fall.

First Swim

After I got Emma signed up for kindergarten, we went to my parents' house to swim. It was the girls' first outdoor swim of the season. They were so excited and had so much fun. Then we all got ready and went to church.

Dance Recital

Emma had her dance recital Sunday afternoon. I am absolutely worn out from running all over the auditorium helping her change costumes, get behind stage, taking pictures, giving tons of kisses, and generally keeping up with her. It was a long day. There were a total of 43 numbers performed, and we were there for the whole 3 hours. She definitely felt like the princess today. She was so proud of herself and should have been because we are proud of her too.

Her group's first number was a tap routine to the tune of "I Hear You Knocking."

Isn't she cute? I just love this sassy pose.

Next they did their ballet routine to "All the Way My Savior."

We gave our sweet princess a dozen red roses. She was so proud of those flowers. I didn't think we were going to get them away from her so she could get ready for her last routine.

Finally, they did a jazz number to "Stupid Cupid."

Taking a bow.
So proud of our dancing princess.

Softball Starts

Anna Kate's softball season began today. She had fun at the opening ceremony, and her team won its first game of the season 11-3. Anna Kate played second base. She caught both balls that came her way and threw it to first for outs both times. She only batted once and walked. I was too caught up in the game and forgot to take pics, but I did manage to get the pic below after the opening ceremony. We are excited about another softball season.

Earth Day

Anna Kate's class went on a field trip to the Air Force Base this week for Earth Day. I wish I could have gone because it sounds like she had a great time. They learned about recycling, played on the jumpers, and enjoyed the sites and sounds of the Base. She got a tatoo (see the pic) and won a t-shirt.

More on Bible Drills

I have to brag just a little more about Anna Kate with her Bible Drills. Last night was demo and awards night at our church. Here she is with other children's Bible drillers.
They demonstrated for the church what they have learned. Here she is looking up a key passage.
She was so proud to get her trophy last night. In fact, she took it to school today so she could show her Aunt Amanda and her teacher.

Busy Day, But Good Day!

In addition to Tim and I working a full day and the girls being in school all day, we had a really busy evening. It started off by taking Anna Kate to the State Bible Drills in Starkville. She had to do well enough at the Church Drills and the Association Drills earlier in the month to even make it to the State Drills, so we were proud of her for doing that. But she really did us proud today. She made only one mistake at the State Bible Drills today. If a child has 0, 1 or 2 mistakes, he or she gets the Superior rating. That's what Anna Kate got. She has worked so hard, and we are SO proud of her. In this picture, she is telling everyone her name, home church and how many years she has been in Bible Drills. It's her first year.
Here she is proudly showing off her Superior ranking seal. Way to go Anna Kate!
After Bible Drills, Tim took Anna Kate to the park for a practice game. I headed to Emma's dance dress rehearsal where I met up with my mom and Emma. Emma was on cloud 9 getting to dress up and perform. We all can't wait to watch her this weekend at the big recital.
Here she is in her jazz outfit. Too cute!
After Emma's rehearsal was over, she and I headed to the park to catch the end of Anna Kate's practice game. She did great batting and fielding. It appears she is going to be starting second baseman.
We wrapped up the day by rushing home to catch our favorite show, American Idol. It was so good tonight. I am tired, but it was a good day. So proud of our babies.

Easter Portraits

After two attempts, lots of begging and even some bribing, I finally got some pretty good Easter portraits of the girls. These pictures were made on the MUW campus, which has been so beautiful the past couple of weeks. Sorry so many pictures -- I had too many favorites.
